Embodied Path Therapy was founded on the belief that meaningful healing begins when we feel truly seen, heard, and understood.

The name reflects a journey of reconnecting with yourself, understanding your experiences, and finding a path forward that honours your individual needs, strengths, and pace.

Rooted in compassion, collaboration, and evidence-informed care, Embodied Path Therapy offers a supportive space to explore life's challenges, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change.

Our Story

A Little More About Me

Hi, I'm Komal.

I believe that one of the most meaningful parts of counselling is having a space where you feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted as you are.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and client-paced. I recognize that everyone's experiences, challenges, and ways of healing are different. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, I work alongside you to understand what matters most and explore ways forward that feel realistic and meaningful.

With over 15 years of academic and clinical experience in psychology, counselling, and mental health, I've had the opportunity to support individuals across different ages, backgrounds, and life circumstances. These experiences have shaped my belief in compassionate, culturally responsive, and evidence-informed care.

I integrate therapeutic approaches based on your individual needs, while recognizing the connection between thoughts, emotions, physical experiences, and overall well-being.

Above all, I believe counselling should be a space where you feel respected, supported, and empowered to move forward at your own pace.

Komal Sandhu

I believe that our thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and lived experiences are deeply interconnected. For this reason, my counselling approach integrates both top-down (mind-based) and bottom-up (body-based) therapeutic strategies to support emotional well-being.

My Counselling Philosophy & Approach

An Integrative Approach: Connecting Mind & Body

Top-Down: Working Through Thoughts & Understanding

Top-down approaches focus on exploring thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and patterns of behaviour. Drawing from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and DBT-informed strategies, we work toward developing greater awareness, emotional understanding, and practical coping skills.

Bottom-Up: Working Through the Body & Nervous System

Bottom-up approaches recognize that stress and difficult experiences can also affect how we feel physically. Through mindfulness, grounding, breathwork, somatic awareness, and gentle body-based practices, we explore ways to support nervous system regulation, reconnect with bodily sensations, and develop a greater sense of safety and stability.

Bringing Both Together

Rather than relying on one approach alone, I thoughtfully integrate mind-based and body-based strategies according to your individual needs, comfort, and pace. This allows us to explore not only what you're thinking and feeling, but also how your experiences may be affecting your body and overall well-being.

My Professional Background & Experience

I bring together extensive academic training, diverse professional experience, and ongoing specialized learning to support individuals through emotional, psychological, and life challenges. My background informs an integrative, evidence-informed approach that is responsive to each person's needs, experiences, and pace.
